The acidity of this wine hits you first but it mellows quickly into a cool earthiness, where you can feel the mossy dirt rub between your toes. I taste chocolate, dried strawberries, and allspice when it lingers. While all are appealing flavors, they don't combine well. I couldn't finish my glass.
I’ve been wine tasting for years now, but I like to think I approach it from the average consumer’s perspective. I believe the average consumer can appreciate when a cabernet franc boasts deep flavors or that first effervescent sip of vinho verde conjures up delightful summertime memories. But more often than not, they just want an affordable glass of wine that tastes delicious while lounging by the TV.
