Obligatory disclaimer: The food I’m about to review from Gott’s Roadside summer menu was entirely free to me. I love when restaurants add new menu items to celebrate a change in seasons. I love it even more when they invite me out to taste them. You might think mid-August a little late to write up

Farley’s East (33 Grand Ave) has been a fixture of Oakland’s Uptown neighborhood for eight years now, and after the space next door opened up, owners Chris and Amy Hillyard jumped at the chance to expand the shop. Especially as the purchase would mean that Farley’s East would finally acquire a full kitchen! Yes, it’s

Hakushika Hana Kohaku Plum Sake Class: Junmai Ginjo Nishinomiya, Japan This sake has added nanko plum extract, which is what makes it such a strongly amber color – in the bottle, it looked more rose pink! It smells like a blend of sake and plum wine with plum and warm rice being the primary notes.

Obligatory disclaimer: This tasting of Roger Constant Lemaire Champagne was entirely free to me. It’s not every day you get to try some of the world’s best bubbly, and I’m a little in denial that this experience ever happened. But through Luscious Lushes’s wine connections and Brix Chick Liza’s hospitality, I was invited to try

White wines from the Portuguese Vinho Verde region are some of my favorites, so I jumped at the chance to try a quartet of them last month in San Francisco. Obligatory disclaimer: The food and Vinho Verde wines I’m about to write about were provided for free to me from Benson Marketing, which represents the

Obligatory disclaimer: I received the Gringo Bandito hot sauces as free samples for my review.I love hot sauces. My love for hot sauces extends so deep, I taste-tested the Gringo Bandito trio of hot sauces mere days after recovering from a bacterial infection. Heck, I may not have been fully recovered, if the sniffling in

If you’re wondering if I meant that post title to be a pun, wonder no longer— The pun works on so many levels, I couldn’t resist! Of course, your appreciation of my cleverness may be enhanced if you have some background information on Scotto Cellars, a fifth-generation, Lodi-based winemaking family that has climbed out of

Obligatory disclaimer: Left Coast Cellars provided these wines for my review for free. My experience with Left Coast Cellars (website here) is not a long one…but it has certainly been a fruitful one.
