The Carolina Table: East Meets West Dinner We have finally made it, dear eaters. It’s the last of my posts on TerraVITA 2012, which you may find funny because I passed up the Grand Tasting on the Square, which is TerraVITA’s main event. It did not take place until the day after this meal, and

It’s been two years since my last update on hunting for the perfect trivia spot in our corner of the Triangle, and that’s because we thought we had found a winner at the West 94th Street Pub, conveniently located just down the road from my house. Their trivia was on Wednesday nights. It had the

First up, Market Restaurant in Raleigh is celebrating their one year anniversary tomorrow, 5/4, which also happens to be my birthday. However, I am not

Fullsteam’s First Frost Persimmon Winter Ale Getting word of this beer’s production is what first introduced me to Fullsteam and their Southern-agriculture-inspired brews. I adore persimmon. I believe persimmons (and avocados) are a gift from the gods, and the label on this very limited edition bottling (mine is #402 of 800) agrees as it expounds

I have yet to make it to Raleigh’s Bickett Market, but they’ve received a lot of praise for their store since they opened last July. It features produce, wines, and meat from local farmers and producers. Turns out, however, that produce is scarcer this time of the year, so Jason Stegall, the owner, is looking

This past weekend, I was able to attend Farm to Fork for the first time, an event I’d heard a lot about in the past couple of years. It’s basically a celebration of the restaurant-farmer relationships of the fantastic food scene we are blessed with in the NC Piedmont and of course, a fundraiser, too.
